The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Arabiyat Prestige has built its reputation on accessible luxury rooted in Dubai's vibrant perfume culture, and the Nyla series represents the house's ongoing exploration of familiar materials through fresh perspectives. For Nyla Vani-Elle, the brand turned to Elodie Bernard, a perfumer known for her ability to balance gourmand richness with botanical precision. The brief asked for vanilla reimagined, not as a standalone star but as part of a structured arc where jasmine, amber, and tonka bean each play defined roles. Bernard delivered a fragrance that feels contemporary without chasing trends, rooted in Arabian perfumery traditions while remaining globally appealing.
The note selection reflects a deliberate philosophy: jasmine and vanilla open the fragrance to establish immediate appeal and complexity, amber and caramel form the warm, gourmand heart that defines the Nyla identity, and musk with tonka bean anchor the composition for longevity. Vanilla appears twice in the pyramid, once in the opening and again in the drydown, to reinforce the signature note without making it feel one-dimensional. The pairing of jasmine with vanilla in the opening creates a natural tension between bright florality and creamy sweetness, while the amber-caramel heart offers richness that appeals to those who want their fragrance to feel enveloping and warm.
The evolution
The fragrance begins with jasmine and vanilla, a pairing that sounds simple but delivers immediate complexity. Jasmine brings its characteristic green-floral quality, slightly indolic and unmistakably natural, while vanilla adds creamy sweetness that softens the jasmine without flattening it. As the composition evolves, amber and caramel take center stage, transforming the bright opening into something warmer and more enveloping. The amber adds resinous depth while caramel introduces edible sweetness, creating a heart that feels plush and inviting. In the drydown, musk and tonka bean provide the finishing structure. Musk grounds the composition with clean, skin-like warmth, and tonka bean adds coumarin richness that bridges the floral and gourmand elements. Vanilla returns here, reinforcing the signature sweetness and ensuring the fragrance lingers with presence.
Cultural impact
Arabiyat Prestige has built a reputation for making Gulf-inspired luxury accessible, and Nyla Vani-Elle continues that mission with a twist on regional preferences. The Gulf fragrance market has long favored oud and rose-forward compositions, but gourmand notes have carved out a growing niche among younger collectors and daily wearers. Vani-Elle represents a bridge between Western dessert-scent trends and Middle Eastern taste for rich, warm aromas that linger. The 2024 launch arrived during a peak period for vanilla-forward fragrances globally, yet Vani-Elle distinguished itself through its amber spine, preventing the scent from sliding into mere sweetness.
