The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Frozen Verbena Body Mist arrived in 2013 as part of And Other Stories' first foray beyond apparel into scent, following the debut fragrance Secret Haven that same year. The brand, launched in Stockholm in 2010, built its identity on accessible, story‑driven fragrance, and the brief for this mist was to craft something light enough to layer over a curated wardrobe without overwhelming it. Perfumers working with the label chose a palette of Petitgrain and Lime to create an immediate citrus sparkle, then grounded that brightness with Basil for a green, herbaceous twist that would feel urban yet fresh.
And Other Stories selected Petitgrain, Lime, Basil, Lemon Verbena, Geranium, Musk, and Woody Notes to build a fragrance that feels both contemporary and easy to wear. Petitgrain and Lime supply the crisp, immediate citrus opening the brand wanted, while Basil, Lemon Verbena, and Geranium add the herbal‑floral nuance that keeps the scent from being merely fruity. Musk and Woody Notes act as a quiet, sustainable anchor, enabling reapplication throughout the day without becoming cloying. This note philosophy supports the intended use as a subtle wardrobe layer, pairing well with clean, minimal fashion choices and leaving a gentle, refreshing impression.
The evolution
The opening citrus burst of Petitgrain and Lime creates an instant effervescence, reminiscent of fresh citrus peel and subtly bitter orange leaf. Within minutes, Basil introduces a sharp, herbal layer that sharpens the sweetness of the Lime. As the scent moves into its heart, Lemon Verbena takes the lead, replacing the raw citrus with a softer, leafier lemon aroma, while Geranium adds a faint rosy, floral green nuance. The drydown transitions to Musk and Woody Notes: Musk gently embraces the skin, and the mild woody undertone adds a grounded finish that does not overpower the rest of the composition. This arc from bright, tart citrus to quiet herbal‑floral and finally to a subtle musky wood veil mirrors the label's aim of a scent that feels like a whispered breeze through a sunlit garden.
Cultural impact
Since its 2013 debut, Frozen Verbena Body Mist has become a subtle cultural touchstone for fans of minimalist, nature‑inspired scents. Its crisp green‑citrus profile resonated with the growing trend toward clean, unisex fragrances that emphasize transparency and simplicity. Social media users frequently pair the mist with spring wardrobe posts, highlighting its ability to evoke outdoor freshness without overwhelming the senses. Over the years, the scent has been cited in lifestyle blogs as a go‑to summer staple, reinforcing a broader movement toward lighter, wearable fragrances that complement active, on‑the‑go lifestyles.
