The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Silver Hawk arrived in 2023 as part of Ajmal's ongoing exploration of oriental woody compositions. The fragrance is built around a confident blend of frankincense, florals, and warm woods, a composition designed for the modern man who wants depth without the weight of a traditional attar. Silver Hawk reflects that sensibility, pairing the sacred, resinous quality of frankincense with a softer, more contemporary sweetness that makes the incense feel approachable rather than ceremonial. The elemi brings a peppery, lemony brightness to the opening, cutting through the heavier resin notes and keeping the first impression from collapsing into density.
What's interesting here is the balance between frankincense and vanilla. Ajmal placed a resinous, almost sacred ingredient at the top, then paired it with a creamy vanilla heart that softens the incense into approachability. The elemi resin adds a peppery, lemony brightness that keeps the opening from feeling heavy. This isn't a fragrance trying to be austere. It's frankincense made wearable, the resin given just enough sweetness to function as an everyday scent rather than a ceremony.
The evolution
The first 15 minutes belong to frankincense and elemi, dry and resinous with a peppery edge, like the air inside a stone chapel at midday. Bergamot is there too, but it's almost an afterthought, a thin slice of brightness tucked behind the incense. By the 30-minute mark the orange blossom arrives, and the composition pivots hard. The resins recede. Vanilla slides in underneath, and jasmine adds a soft, almost creamy sweetness that the opening never promised. This is the phase that surprises. It reads warmer, softer, less austere than the opening suggested, the frankincense becoming a ghost in the background rather than the lead. By hour two, the drydown has settled into cedarwood, amber, and musk, a warm, woody close that stays close to skin.
Cultural impact
Silver Hawk sits within Ajmal's contemporary lineup as a composition that captures the brand's incense-forward sensibility without overwhelming the wearer. Wearers note its balance, a vanilla warmth that softens the frankincense rather than competing with it, making it appealing to those who are newer to incense-driven fragrance while still satisfying those familiar with the genre. The fragrance reads as a thoughtful middle ground, taking the more austere, resinous traditions of Arabian perfumery and giving them a creamy, wearable finish.
