    Heritage

A house, in its own words

The Ajmal story begins in the early 1950s, when Haji Ajmal Ali left his family's rice farm in Hojai, Assam, India with just Rs 500 in capital. He had heard about the oud trade and believed it could change his fortunes. In 1951, he set up his first shop at Nagdevi Street in Crawford Market, Mumbai, transforming from farmer to perfumer within the same year. With honesty, hard work, and dedication, he slowly built his business. His sons entered the venture and within two decades, the family had planted seeds that grew into a strong tree. By the 1970s, Ajmal opened its first stores in the UAE where its Arabic perfumes gained popularity quickly. The company established its headquarters in Dubai in 1976, creating a permanent base in the heart of the Gulf region. Today, Ajmal operates more than 350 exclusive showrooms across the GCC and internationally, distributes to over 60 countries, and maintains presence in 80 plus duty-free and travel retail locations worldwide. The portfolio now exceeds 300 fragrances, ranging from classic oud based compositions to modern interpretations. The brand also demonstrates social commitment. Every year, 10% of the Ajmal Group's net profits support philanthropic activities, a practice honoring the vision of its founder and his wife. Ajmal approaches perfumery as both art and memory. Their guiding concept, Crafting Memories, reflects a belief that fragrance should be deeply personal, leaving lasting impressions that travel with the wearer through their day. The house treats oud not as a singular ingredient but as a philosophy, one that informs every formula in their collection. Their mastery of rare woods and signature blends sets them apart in the fragrance world, earning global recognition for authenticity and confidence. What makes Ajmal distinctive is the balance between honoring ancient traditions and embracing contemporary sensibilities. Each fragrance carries the weight of Arabian perfumery heritage while remaining relevant to modern tastes. The brand does not rely on borrowed formulas. Instead, it builds from the ground up, sourcing rare materials and combining them in ways that feel both timeless and fresh. Their portfolio spans classic oud compositions alongside modern floral and spice-forward creations, offering options for every preference without compromising the house identity. This breadth, combined with consistent quality, has made Ajmal a trusted name across generations of fragrance lovers.
