Dalia Izem
Born into a North African-Middle Eastern household, Dalia Izem inhaled spice markets and incense‑laden evenings before she could read. A scholarship to ISIPCA carried her from Casablanca to the halls of Paris, where she honed the chemistry of scent under masters of the craft. After graduating, she joined Lattafa Perfumes, translating the region’s aromatic heritage into modern bottles. Her breakthrough arrived with the launch of Eclaire Banoffi, a composition that earned critical praise and signaled her arrival on the global stage. In 2020 she accepted a senior role at Givaudan, where she now guides fragrance houses and collaborates with artists on projects that bridge visual art and aroma. Awards such as Perfumer of the Year (regional) recognize her precise, emotive voice. Today she balances corporate briefs with personal experiments, always seeking the moment when memory and material meet.

How Dalia composes
Her signature technique blends traditional Middle Eastern spices with contemporary Western synthetics. She favors natural bergamot, neroli, and Tunisian orange blossom, then anchors them with ambergris‑like labdanum and soft musk. A touch of smoked papyrus or dried fig often appears as a whisper in the dry‑down, giving depth without overwhelming the composition. Dalia works in layers, constructing a bright opening, a heart that unfolds slowly, and a base that lingers like a memory. She prefers to work in small batches, allowing each ingredient to reveal its true character before committing to the final formula.
Philosophy
What drives Dalia
Dalia describes perfume as a dialogue between the skin and the mind. She begins each brief by listening to the story a client wants to tell, then sketches the scent with a handful of accords that echo that narrative. Her North African roots push her toward bright citrus, warm amber, and the subtle heat of pepper, while her Parisian training insists on structure and balance. She believes a fragrance must earn its place on the wearer’s pulse, not merely adorn it. By pairing unexpected ingredients with familiar pillars, she creates pieces that feel both intimate and surprising. The drive behind every bottle is the desire to capture a fleeting feeling before it fades.
