Character
The Story of Air Accord
A modern synthetic accord capturing the sensation of open skies, morning breezes, and the crisp clarity of fresh outdoor air. It brings lightness and volume to contemporary fragrances.
Heritage
The air accord emerged in 1988 when perfumer Pierre Bourdon created Davidoff Cool Water, a fragrance that introduced marine and ozonic notes to mainstream perfumery. Before this breakthrough, no fragrance had attempted to bottle the sensation of fresh outdoor atmosphere. The concept drew from an aspiration rather than a natural ingredient. This launched an entirely new fragrance family, influencing countless aquatic fragrances that followed. The technology behind these molecules developed alongside advances in organic chemistry during the 20th century, building on foundations laid by early synthetic pioneers like Haarmann and Reimer, who established the first dedicated synthetic fragrance company in 1874.
