The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Mente en Blanco translates to "blank mind" in Spanish, and that phrasing sets the brief for everything that follows. Released in 2025 as part of Victorio & Lucchino's Aguas Esenciales collection, the fragrance was conceived as an ode to serenity and comfort, a composition built around dragon fruit, sweet orange, and cocoa, with cinnamon, vanilla, and sandalwood threading through to anchor the warmer notes. The Aguas Esenciales line groups these softer compositions together, and Mente en Blanco fits squarely within that brief, offering a fragrance that reads as restful rather than attention-seeking. It's marketed by Puig, who distribute the fragrance through their channels. The name itself is the concept: a moment of mental stillness, translated into something wearable.
What's distinctive here is the choice to build a "blank mind" around warmth rather than clarity. Bergamot and jasmine do the opening work, but the composition leans quickly into cinnamon, amberwood, and vanilla, which gives it a body temperature from the start. The citrus lifts briefly at the top, then yields to the spice, which carries the heart of the fragrance without ever crossing into sharp or aggressive territory. The jasmine stays hushed underneath, offering a floral suggestion that rounds the spice rather than competing with it.
The evolution
The opening belongs to bergamot, and the bergamot is sharp. Not bracing, but present, like citrus squeezed over something warm already on the table. Cinnamon arrives within the first few minutes, and from there the temperature shifts upward. The jasmine stays quiet underneath, offering a floral hum that keeps the spice from becoming a kitchen. As the hours pass, the cinnamon settles into the amberwood and sandalwood base, and the whole composition settles into something closer to skin than air. The vanilla is patient. It takes its time surfacing, and once it does, it becomes the main voice, soft and rounded, never syrupy. On most days, the vanilla-sandalwood register holds for hours, intimate rather than projecting, close enough that you'll catch it on your collar when you lean forward. Eventually the soft musk base lingers on fabric, fading to a whisper. No drama.
Cultural impact
Mente en Blanco reads less as aromatherapy and more as comfort, which gives it a warmth that some wellness-positioned fragrances deliberately avoid. For wearers drawn to soft, skin-close fragrances with character, it sits comfortably alongside the brand's broader Aguas Esenciales range. The cinnamon-vanilla-sandalwood structure gives the composition a recognizable warmth, and the bergamot and jasmine notes keep it from tipping into pure gourmand territory. The result is a fragrance that feels grounded, almost domestic, evoking the quiet rituals of a slow morning rather than a polished evening.
