The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Valentina Pink launched in 2015 as a limited edition, expanding a collection that began with the original Valentina in 2011. Daphné Bugey and Fabrice Pellegrin built it around strawberry and blackberry, creating a bright opening that feels like biting into ripe berries at the height of summer. The strawberry comes through as juicy and almost tart, while the blackberry adds a deeper, slightly darker sweetness that keeps the top notes from feeling too simple. There's a soft musk underneath that gives the whole composition a warm, skin-like quality as it develops. The heart shifts to reveal rose, which grounds the fruity beginning and adds a classic floral elegance that feels intentional rather than accidental. Peony smooths the transition so the rose doesn't overwhelm.
The rose heart is the quietest act of craftsmanship in the composition. May rose, Centifolia rose, and rosebuds stacked together create a multi-dimensional floral that reads richer than any single rose note could. Peony adds a powdery softness that keeps the heart from going sharp. It's rose that behaves, accessible, sweet, but never simple.
The evolution
The opening hits like a glass of strawberry lemonade on a warm afternoon. Strawberry and blackberry burst forward, the musk lending a skin-like warmth beneath the fruit. The blackberry adds a darker, slightly tart edge that keeps the sweetness from becoming one-dimensional. Thirty minutes in, the rose takes over as the dominant voice, its classic floral character softened by peony so the transition never goes sharp. The drydown belongs to praline and cashmere wood, amber holds everything together, warm and close, like the memory of a sweetness you can still almost smell. A trace by morning, warmth on the skin, nothing more. People notice when they're close, not across the room.
Cultural impact
Valentina Pink sits in the sweet spot of the feminine fruity-gourmand space, broad enough to appeal, distinctive enough to earn its place. The strawberry-rose combination is a crowd-pleaser, its bright berry sweetness tempered by the elegant floral depth that keeps the composition from feeling thin. The 2015 limited edition status has made it something sought after by those who appreciate rare releases.
