The beginning
Mukta arrived in 2024 as part of a line built on the idea that scent can be a tool for alignment rather than decoration. The house treats each composition as something considered, a moment of intention before the day begins. Mukta sits in that philosophy: energizing without aggression, grounded without weight. The citrus opening is bright enough to wake a room, a heart of magnolia and rose soft enough to keep it human, and a base that holds steady through the hours that follow. Tulita's entire approach rests on 100% plant-derived formulations, no synthetic musks, just botanicals handled with precision. Mukta is the expression of that craft. The grapefruit cuts with a clean, almost metallic snap, while pomelo brings a quieter honeyed sweetness beneath.
What makes Mukta structurally interesting is the tension between four citrus notes in the opening and a resolutely woody base. American grapefruit, Brazilian mandarin, honey pomelo, and Italian green lemon arrive together, a stack of fruit that's more architectural than juicy. Each citrus has its own character: grapefruit brings the bitter edge, pomelo the honeyed weight, mandarin the rounded sweetness, and green lemon a sharp, almost herbal brightness. That citrus pyramid could easily tip into shower-gel territory, but the heart intervenes.
The evolution
Mukta opens with a burst of citrus that's almost aggressive in its freshness. For the opening stretch, that's all there is, bright, clean, and decidedly awake. Then the citrus begins to thin. It doesn't disappear, but it steps back, and the heart moves forward: magnolia arrives first, soft and creamy, followed by Turkish rose, which adds a powdery warmth without ever tipping into old-fashioned rose territory. Black pepper threads through both, dry and persistent, giving the florals a kind of mineral backbone.
Cultural impact
Mukta is built entirely on plant-derived ingredients, and that commitment shapes everything about how it wears. There's no synthetic musk softening the base, no shortcut aromachemicals rounding out the florals.
