The beginning
The Lalique Edition arrived in 2016 as a collector's objet, a deliberate reframe of the original Black Orchid into something rarer, heavier, more ornate. Tom Ford's house had built its fragrance identity on Black Orchid since 2006, but this limited edition pushed the composition into new territory: more concentrated, more opulent, housed in crystal that catches light differently than the Signature bottle. The name says Lalique, but the intention is museum-worthy. This is the Black Orchid you display.
The black truffle in the opening is the first signal that this isn't playing by conventional rules. Paired with blackcurrant and bergamot, it creates a top phase that reads almost savory before the florals arrive. Ylang-ylang and gardenia thread through the heart alongside the namesake orchid, lending a creamy white floral warmth that keeps the composition from tipping fully dark.
