Why it exists.
The beginning
Mahsam Raza signed off on Skin Circuit in 2026, the latest entry in The Dua Brand's Inspired Expression collection. The fragrance occupies a strange middle ground, something closer to skin after exertion, skin under cold water, skin with a charge running through it, rather than the comfort-blanket interpretation perfumery usually offers. Yuzu and aquatics cool the composition from above, lending a saline brightness that reads almost clinical at first contact. Underneath, a milky skin accord and carefully chosen musks give the whole thing its pulse, a warmth that emerges not as sweetness but as presence, like body heat diffusing through damp fabric. It's vegan, and it's a clean reimagining of what a skin scent can be when it refuses to settle into the usual soft-focus tropes of the genre.
What's interesting here is the tension between the cold, mineral top and the warm, lactonic heart. Aqual and yuzu open with saline brightness, almost effervescent, the kind of cool snap that makes you think of menthol without any menthol at all. Then the temperature shifts. Mugane and a milky skin accord pull the composition upward within minutes, and the fragrance stops reading as aquatic and starts reading as something closer to the surface of skin itself, warm, slightly damp, faintly sweet in the way clean skin can be after effort.
The evolution
The first ten minutes are almost aggressive in their coolness. Yuzu slices through the air alongside the saline snap of Aqual, and for a moment it smells like sea spray on glass, bright and brittle and hard to ignore. Then something strange happens. The heart arrives not with flowers but with cream. Jasmine absolute and the milky skin accord soften everything into something you want to lean into, close to your own wrist. Mugane adds a slightly metallic warmth that reads less like skin and more like the residue of touch, fabric, movement, the trace a sleeve leaves on an arm after being pulled tight. By the second hour the whole composition has migrated from cold to warm without ever fully leaving the water, and the transition feels less like a shift than a slow exhale. The base takes over quietly.

Its reference point, The Ghost in the Shell by État Libre d'Orange, shares the same aquatic-meets-skin tension, a relatively niche corner of fragrance where saline coolness meets lactonic warmth. Where the original leans into animalic and slightly unsettling territory, The Dua Brand's version smooths those edges into something more wearable, closer to clean skin than raw nerve.
