Roma Legacy: A is The Dua Brand's 2025 interpretation of A by Pantheon Roma, the Italian house's enigmatic original. Perfumer Mahsam Raza composed the release, working from the source's distinctive profile. The result is a composition that opens with a sparkle of pink pepper and folds quickly into the lush, sun-warmed fruit that defines its character. Coconut brings a creamy, almost milky softness right at the top, while mango adds that ripe, almost syrupy sweetness you can almost taste. Raza's approach yields a blend that wears with immediate appeal, the kind of opening that draws you in before you've had time to process what's happening on your skin. The fruit accord feels generous and unapologetic, setting a tone that carries through the entire wear.
What makes this composition worth paying attention to is the structural role of iris. In a blend dominated by tropical fruit, gourmand vanilla, and amber warmth, the powdery, slightly mineral quality of iris acts as a spine. Without it, the coconut-mango-vanilla axis would collapse into something cloying. The iris cuts through with a cool, almost suede-like dryness, giving the sweetness somewhere to rest. The evolution
The first 15 minutes are all fruit and lift. Pink pepper prickles alongside the coconut, then mango arrives with that unmistakable sun-warmed sweetness, almost like biting into one that's perfectly ripe. The sillage here is moderate, present without filling the space. Around the 30-minute mark the fruit steps back and the floral heart takes over. Iris comes forward first, powdery and composed, then jasmine sambac adds a creamy indolic warmth. Orchid rounds the edges, smoothing the transition between the bright fruit and what comes next. The drydown, settling in around the 2-3 hour mark, is where the composition commits. Vanilla and tonka bean build a soft, edible sweetness, amber adds resinous glow, patchouli grounds it without going earthy, and musk keeps everything close to skin.
