The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Mahsam Raza composed Peach Blossom & Chamomile in 2024 as part of The Dua Brand's Inspired Expression line. The brief seems clear from the composition itself: something soft that earns its place in a daily rotation. White grapefruit and peach blossom handle the brightness at the top, opening with a crisp, slightly effervescent quality that feels lifted and clean. The fruit accord carries a gentle sweetness without ever tipping into sugary territory, the kind of brightness that reads almost like cool water against glass. Chamomile and violet step in to handle the tenderness, the floral heart unfolding with a soft, powdery quality that smooths the sharper edges of the citrus.
What makes this composition worth a second look is the way it balances two textures that usually fight each other. Chamomile is sweet and gentle, carrying a tea-like softness that reads calming and approachable. Peru balsam and benzoin push warm and resinous, leaning toward the medicinal-amber end of the spectrum with their dense, balsamic character. Violet sits between them, powdery and soft, smoothing the transition from the bright top notes into the heavier base. The effect is less of a single scent and more of a mood built from ingredients that shouldn't easily coexist.
The evolution
The opening belongs to grapefruit, sharp and almost tart, with peach blossom softening the edges into something slightly soapy and luminous. That brightness doesn't fade so much as dissolve into chamomile, which arrives carrying violet and a thread of benzoin sweetness. The transition is gradual, almost imperceptible, the citrus glow giving way to a softer, more contemplative middle phase. Eventually the composition turns inward. The warm spicy register from Peru balsam takes over, and the fragrance starts reading less floral and more like a low, steady hum. Vanilla and tonka bean show up late, wrapping the drydown in a powdery sweetness that can stretch across many hours. Sandalwood and white musk hold everything together underneath, giving the base a soft, almost creamy warmth.
Cultural impact
Within The Dua Brand's catalog, Peach Blossom & Chamomile occupies a distinctive place. For wearers, it fills the gap between a daytime floral and something more enveloping, a chamomile-forward scent that reads calming without crossing into aromatherapy territory. The fragrance offers a chamomile-driven profile that stands apart from more conventional floral releases, grounding its sweetness in a botanical ingredient that carries associations with quiet comfort.
