The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Mahsam Raza built Majestic Topaz for The Dua Brand's Inspired Expression collection, a 2026 release. Raza approached the composition with a clear visual idea in mind: a fragrance that reads warm and golden without leaning heavy or gourmand. The name itself carries that visual language, evoking a stone cut to catch the light from every angle, refracting something different depending on where you stand. The juice behind that concept leans bright in the opening, floral and golden at its heart, and finishes with a soft amber-woody hum that clings close to skin rather than projecting outward. It's a composition built around contrasts, where sharp citrus gives way to sunlit florals, and where the warmth of ambergris never overwhelms the freshness of what came before.
What makes the structure interesting is its restraint. Black lemon and candied lemon open sweet and tart simultaneously, an unusual tension that Elderflower softens without dissolving. The heart shifts into orange blossom and rose absolute with rum acting as the connective tissue, warm without going boozy. The drydown pulls toward ambergris, ambroxan, cashmere wood, and cedarwood, giving the whole thing a clean, second-skin finish instead of a thick trail. Each phase hands off cleanly to the next.
The evolution
The first twenty minutes are the loudest this fragrance gets. Black lemon, candied lemon, and blackcurrant CO2 crack open with a sharp-sweet snap, bright and almost edible, while elderflower pulls the edges inward so the citrus doesn't feel like a soda pour. That opening settles surprisingly fast, giving way to a heart where orange blossom and rose absolute have moved to the center, warmed by a thread of rum that reads more like caramelized sugar than cocktail. The florals aren't powdery or soapy. They carry a golden, almost sunlit quality, and the rum keeps them grounded. As the composition matures, its weight shifts downward. Ambergris and ambroxan step forward, giving the base a saline-amber glow, while cashmere wood and cedarwood soften everything into a fabric-like warmth. Musk arrives last, not as a loud declaration but as a binder, making the whole composition sit closer to skin.
Cultural impact
Majestic Topaz sits within The Dua Brand's Inspired Expression collection. The fragrance leans luminous and floral-woody rather than heavy or gourmand, which gives it a versatile spot in a wearer's rotation. The citrus-amber-cashmere structure shapes how it wears across different moods and temperatures, with the bright opening cutting through warmer moments while the amber-woody base settles comfortably in cooler air. The florals at the heart bridge those two registers, carrying enough warmth to feel substantial without tipping into sweetness.
