Why it exists.
The beginning
Candy Swirls is a 2026 release from The Dua Brand, composed by perfumer Mahsam Raza, and it lives in the brand's Inspired Expression collection. The brief was simple on its face: capture the joyful, sugary rush of spun confection and translate it into something wearable for grown bodies. Raza built the composition around chewy candy and milk at its heart, a pairing that sounds naive on paper but earns its keep with the sharper notes orbiting it. Bergamot opens with bright citrus snap, raspberry and pear add glistening fruit, and the whole thing lands somewhere between a candy shop and a florist's window display that someone has definitely sneaked a treat from.
What separates this from a straight dessert fragrance is the structural tension Raza set up. The chewy candy note, paired with milk, gives the composition a softness that anchors the sweetness with something warm and rounded rather than letting it float away. Then peony drops in with its cool, slightly peppery floral character, refusing to let the sweetness go slack. Powdered sugar in the base does the obvious job, but the moss beneath it pulls the composition toward something earthy, anchoring all that spun sugar to the ground.
The evolution
The first fifteen minutes are pure lift. Bergamot snaps awake with the bright, slightly bitter edge of citrus oil, then raspberry and pear flood in with their candy-shop ripeness. It's the bite before the sweetness lands. The fruit doesn't last long, but while it's there the fragrance reads almost sparkling, like prosecco poured over a fruit salad nobody asked for. Then the heart rolls in. Milk and chewy candy arrive together, softening everything that came before.
