The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
The Fujiyama line began in 1995 as Succes de Paris's answer to bright, uncomplicated fragrance. Three years later, the house pushed further, taking that citrus clarity and introducing a herbaceous green twist. Fujiyama Green arrived in 2001 as the line's most complex expression: still anchored in freshness, but with an aromatic depth that set it apart from the original. The name nods to Mount Fuji, that precise point where sky meets earth, and the scent aims for that same clean intersection, nature at its most considered, most unhurried.
What makes this composition work is the way it refuses to choose between freshness and substance. Most green-citrus fragrances open bright and fade forgettable. Fujiyama Green does something different: the green tea note acts as a bridge between the citrus opening and the herbal heart, keeping the transition smooth rather than jarring. Bay leaf in the base is unusual, it adds a faint camphorated quality that lifts the cedar and white musk, preventing the drydown from becoming too warm or linear. It's a small decision that changes the whole arc.
The evolution
The opening hits clean: bergamot, mandarin, a flicker of lemon. Green tea slides in immediately, tempering the citrus so it never reads as cleaning product. Within twenty minutes, the mint and thyme emerge, cool, slightly medicinal, utterly refreshing. The cyclamen and lily of the valley add a quiet floral softness that prevents the herbaceous notes from taking over. By the third hour, the base arrives. Cedar and white musk create a clean, skin-close drydown. The bay leaf lingers longest, a faint green-woody trail that stays present without projecting. On fabric, it lasts through an evening. On skin, plan for four to six hours of quiet, composed wear.
Cultural impact
Fujiyama Green occupies a quiet corner of fragrance culture, loved by those who want something fresh without the crowd. It wears well in professional settings, holds up in warmer months, and appeals to the wearer who doesn't need a scent to announce itself. The line has maintained a small but devoted following since 1995, outlasting many contemporary releases through sheer consistency.
