The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Miami enters Stefano Ricci's Cities of the World lineup in 2022 with a portrait of coastal ease. The brief: a city that lives outdoors, drinks cold, and dresses like it never tried. The composition reads accordingly: petitgrain and bergamot for the ocean air, cardamom and nutmeg for the heat that sits on the skin after noon, fig leaf as the signature green note, jasmine for the tropical white floral, then sandalwood and cedar for the drydown that makes the whole thing feel intentional rather than accidental. The opening is brisk, almost saline, with the petitgrain lending a green bitterness that reads like sea spray caught on warm concrete. Bergamot softens the edges without sweetening them, keeping the citrus present but controlled.
Fig leaf is the move that earns attention. Miami places fig leaf in the heart with violet leaf alongside, producing a green density that reads as vegetation rather than just a note on a pyramid. The combination carries a certain weight, a milky lactonic quality that feels closer to crushed leaves in late afternoon sun than to any traditional green aromatic. Jasmine stays restrained. It doesn't push the composition into tropical cologne territory, and that restraint is what keeps the whole thing from tipping into something obvious.
The evolution
{"hook":"Built for the hour the streetlights warm up in Miami.","exploration":"The cologne opens on petitgrain and bergamot, a citrus-green signal that reads Mediterranean and continental. Cardamom and nutmeg add spice without weight. The fig leaf and violet leaf heart pulls the composition into a humid botanical register that fits the city after dark.","resolution":"Sandalwood, cashmere wood, vetiver, and cedar settle the drydown into a woody close-skin hum. Miami does not clench in the air; it lingers on the wearer through the warm hours, and the Mediterranean and tropical accents earn the boulevard setting."}
Cultural impact
Miami enters the Cities of the World collection as a portrait of warm-weather ease, conceived within the same framework that has given the line its global scope. The fragrance reads less as a tropical composition and more as a Mediterranean one with an American accent, which sets it apart from the coconut-and-sunscreen crowd that dominates warm-weather scent. It's a portrait of ease without effort, built on greens and woods rather than the usual tropical fruit or aquatic notes.
