The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Solinotes drew inspiration from the jasmine flower's natural grace to create Fleur de Jasmin, a fragrance centered on balance and harmony. Released in 2014 under perfumer Alexandra Monet, it marked the house's expansion into more layered white floral territory while maintaining their philosophy of letting a single aromatic idea shine. The brief was clear: isolate the jasmine, then build a composition that elevated it without complexity for complexity's sake. The result is a delicate floral that refuses to shout, made for someone who wants to smell beautiful without announcing it.
The jasmine note here isn't the indolic, heady jasmine of night-blooming gardens. Jasmine Sambac reads cleaner, more luminous, and when combined with freesia and lily of the valley, the heart becomes a refined white bouquet rather than a single statement. The bergamot-spice opening keeps things bright, while musk, cedar, and amber provide warmth that extends the wear without heaviness. The result is a white floral that works as a layering piece or stands alone, versatile enough for daily wear, sophisticated enough to wear solo.
The evolution
The opening arrives crisp and green, bergamot and white flowers together, with a hint of spice that fades within the first 30 minutes. Then the jasmine takes over, softened by freesia and lily of the valley, creating a luminous heart that lasts two to three hours. The drydown shifts toward musk and cedar, with amber adding warmth. On most skin types, the scent settles into a quiet, close-to-skin presence that remains detectable for four to six hours. The next morning, a faint trace of cedar and musk lingers on fabric, barely there, but unmistakable if you're looking.
Cultural impact
Fleur de Jasmin has become a staple for those building a fragrance wardrobe with Solinotes' layering system. Its balanced white floral character makes it versatile enough for everyday wear while remaining distinctive enough to stand alone. The fragrance sits comfortably in the approachable luxury space, 89% natural ingredients, a French-made EDP at a price point that doesn't require justification.
