The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Ceremony Bold is the second chapter in Regalien's Ceremony Collection, a line built around the idea that some moments deserve more than a polite fragrance. Where Ceremony Flu offered something lighter and more diffuse, Ceremony Bold was conceived as its counterpart: a composition that announces itself without apology, that fills a room the way a grand occasion demands. The collection draws its name from ritual, from the weight of moments that matter, arrivals, milestones, the hours when ordinary confidence isn't quite enough. Launched in 2024, Ceremony Bold joins Regalien's growing catalogue of colour-coded extrait de parfums, each fragrance a distinct chapter in the Turkish house's ongoing exploration of bold identity through scent.
What makes Ceremony Bold structurally interesting is its commitment to the chypre framework, a 20th-century architecture built on the tension between citrus brightness and mossy depth. Regalien has taken that classic skeleton and draped it in modern materials: peach and tuberose replace the traditional rose heart, giving the composition a fruity-creamy warmth that softens the oakmoss without sacrificing its earthy grip. Marigold is the quiet differentiator here, less common than bergamot or neroli in contemporary perfumery, it adds a golden, almost dusty warmth to the citrus opening that sets the stage for what follows.
The evolution
The opening arrives with mandarin and marigold, bright, golden, immediate. Orange blossom threads through with a clean floral edge that keeps the citrus from feeling too cheerful. Within fifteen minutes the heart takes over: tuberose rises first, creamy and narcotic, followed by peach's soft fruit and rose's timeless warmth. The handoff is seamless, the citrus doesn't fade so much as dissolve into the florals, like sunlight softening as clouds pass. By the second hour the oakmoss appears, earthy and cool, grounding the sweetness. Labdanum adds resinous depth underneath, while patchouli brings its signature earthy-brown warmth. This is where Ceremony Bold earns its name, the drydown is substantial, present, the kind of scent that stays close and intimate without being quiet. On fabric, the base notes linger well into the next day.
Cultural impact
Ceremony Bold enters a specific niche space: the chypre Floral for wearers who want presence without the heavy orientalism of many bold fragrances. Regalien's catalogue spans marine-fresh Aqua Notte to the spice-market warmth of Marrakesh, and Ceremony Bold sits alongside them as the house's statement piece, the fragrance for occasions that demand more than a polite sillage. The Turkish niche market has grown significantly since 2016, and Regalien's colour-coded approach and bold compositions have positioned them as a house that wears its identity openly. Ceremony Bold fits that lineage: confident, present, built for the wearer who isn't looking to blend in.
