Why it exists.
The beginning
Gluttony arrived in 2025 as part of Proad's 7 Sins Collection, an ongoing project that translates the seven deadly sins into wearable scent. Proad worked with perfumer Olivier Cresp to give the concept structure, and the 2025 release positions Gluttony as the collection's most overtly edible composition. The fragrance leans hard into caramel, brown sugar, and stone fruit while keeping just enough floral tension to keep it honest. Cresp's hand shows in the architecture: the sweetness never feels like it's collapsing under its own weight because there's a structural base doing the heavy lifting beneath the sugar. The opening reads like a confectioner's window, warm and immediate, but the composition pulls back before it tips over into cloying territory.
What makes the composition worth a second look is the indole hiding in the base. Indole is a jasmine-derived molecule that, at certain concentrations, reads as fecal, mothball-ish, or deeply animal. At the right dose, it gives white florals their narcotic edge, that hypnotic quality you smell in tuberose and gardenia at night. Here it functions as a counterweight to all that caramel and brown sugar, introducing a slightly dirty, human dimension that keeps the fragrance from smelling like a bakery display case. Without that tension, the sugar would dominate every phase of the wear.
The evolution
The first fifteen minutes are the loudest. Caramel and peach hit together, sticky and sun-warmed, with cardamom's cool spice cutting through like a knife tapping the side of a glass. It's bright. Almost too much. Then the brown sugar arrives in the heart alongside jasmine, and the whole thing thickens, the way a dessert course slows down a meal. The indole shows up quietly around the forty-minute mark. You might not notice it consciously, but the fragrance shifts from purely sweet to something with a pulse, a faint shadow that adds depth without announcing its presence. By hour two, the sandalwood and cashmere wood have absorbed much of the sugar, and the peach has mellowed into something closer to skin warmth. The drydown is where this fragrance earns its keep: soft, warm, slightly creamy, with that indole undertone making it feel lived-in rather than brand new.
