The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Jeju is Korea's largest island, volcanic and coastal, shaped by the sea and the green that grows everywhere. Green tea fields blanket the hillsides. Ocean air moves through it all. Ethos of Cities Jeju captures that specific character. Grapefruit and green tea open like coastal air and island ground at once. There is a mineral clarity to the citrus, bright but not sharp, as if the ocean breeze has been distilled into the top notes. The heart keeps the green alive, sustained by a vegetal quality in the tea that mirrors the island's vegetation. Cedarwood and moss anchor it to something geological and grounded. Cedarwood adds warmth as the scent develops, and moss provides an earthy undertone that prevents the composition from feeling purely aquatic.
The combination of grapefruit with green tea is uncommon. Grapefruit brings a tart, sunlit brightness that reads as immediate and refreshing. Green tea lends a clean, slightly mineral quality that keeps the citrus honest. Moss in the base is the island's true signature. Coastal moss is damp and mineral, the kind that grows on volcanic rock near the sea. It brings an earthy depth that grounds the brighter notes without making them feel flat.
The evolution
The opening burst of grapefruit and green tea hits bright and tart, with the green tea lending a clean, almost mineral quality that elevates the citrus beyond the usual. Yuzu may linger underneath, sharp and distinctive. As the fragrance develops, the green heart takes prominence. Orange blossom and tomato leaf bring an herbal floral quality that keeps the composition alive without sweetness. Cedarwood and musk create a warm woody base, with moss adding an earthy undertone that grounds everything. By the final hours the scent settles close to the skin, intimate and quiet. The sillage remains moderate, primarily announcing itself to the wearer rather than filling the room.
