The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Sogna arrived in 2020 as part of Neadea's tightly focused first release group, made in London by a house drawing creative direction from Nigerian heritage. No perfumer is named in the available record, so its origin lives in the composition rather than a documented maker's story. Calabrian bergamot gives the opening a clean shine, while iris and violet lend it a powdery, almost silken polish. Egyptian geranium and Slovene juniper berry add a herbal edge, preventing the floral opening from becoming overly pretty. The result feels self-possessed: a London fragrance with a cosmopolitan finish and a warm, culturally grounded center.
Its surprise sits in the contrast. Iris and violet could have created a cool, antique powder effect, but Egyptian jasmine, Turkish rose, and Indonesian patchouli pull the composition toward warmth and depth. Carrot seeds lend an earthy, lightly aromatic texture, while cedarwood gives it structure. The base then shifts into balsamic territory through myrrh, frankincense, amber, vanilla, tonka bean, and white musk. Together, these materials make Sogna feel less like a single-facet floral and more like a layered composition that moves from polished brightness to soft, resinous warmth.
The evolution
The opening is the neat, reflective version of Sogna. Bergamot flashes first, crisp and almost citrus-bright, but iris, violet, geranium, and juniper quickly place a powdery veil over that clarity. As the fragrance settles, jasmine and Turkish rose bring a convincing floral pulse. Patchouli and carrot seeds make the middle less demure, adding earth and a faint herbal darkness that keeps the flowers from floating away. By the drydown, amber, bourbon vanilla, tonka bean, myrrh, frankincense, cedarwood, and white musk create a warm, balsamic trail. The result settles close to skin as a soft mix of powder, sweet resin, and clean musk. On fabric, expect the woody and amber notes to remain noticeable after the skin has softened.
Cultural impact
Sogna fits Neadea's diasporic London identity through a confident meeting point: heritage-inspired perfumery with a contemporary metropolitan finish. Its powdery florals and warm musky base place it within a classic-leaning expressive register, while patchouli, myrrh, and frankincense give it a modern, quietly ceremonial edge.
