The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Zabad is a 2026 release from Nabeel, a fragrance house whose catalogue has long centered on concentrated oils, formats where every drop is meant to carry weight on skin rather than fill a room. Among the listed offerings sit names like Irth (Eau de Parfum) and Shahrezad, compositions that have helped define how the house approaches perfume as something intimate and oil-based rather than sprayed. Zabad continues that lineage in roll-on form, a pocket-sized take on the kind of layered composition the catalogue has become known for. It belongs to a lineup that treats oil-based perfume not as a budget alternative to spray, but as a tradition worth its own respect.
The note structure is where Zabad shows its character. Plum and pink pepper open sharp, almost impatient, then the heart introduces hazelnut alongside jasmine and a quiet thread of sea salt. That's an unusual trio. The hazelnut reads gourmand, almost toasted, the jasmine insists on florality, and the salt pulls the whole thing sideways into something mineral and cool. It keeps the composition from tipping into dessert territory, adding a saline flicker that sharpens the sweetness and keeps the gourmand edge in check.
The evolution
The first 15 minutes are the loudest. Plum hits ripe and sweet, undercut by pink pepper's bright sting. Frangipani adds a creamy floral warmth, and oud shows up faster than you'd expect, threading underneath almost immediately with a dark, resinous hum. By the 30-minute mark, the fruit has softened and the heart takes over. Hazelnut reads warm and almost toasted, while jasmine gives it a clean white-floral edge. Sea salt flickers in and out, more a feeling than a note, a cool breath that cuts through the warmth just enough to keep the composition from going heavy. The drydown, from about 3 hours onward, is where Zabad settles into its true register. Amber and sandalwood build a soft base, patchouli adds a quiet earthiness, and vanilla sweetens without overwhelming. The oud weaves through the base like a slow undertow, and the vanilla rounds out the sharper edges that defined the opening.
Cultural impact
Zabad Roll On Oil enters a fragrance conversation where roll-on formats have earned their own following among wearers who prefer oils over sprays for reasons of intimacy, portability, and how the scent behaves on skin over time. Concentrated oils sit closer to the pulse points, warm up gradually with body heat, and tend to evolve through distinct stages as the day goes on, a quality that spray formats don't always replicate. By centering frangipani alongside oud and pairing the composition with plum and pink pepper, the fragrance brings a sweeter, more contemporary edge to a note structure that still leans on oud as a central anchor.
