The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Annie Buzantian designed this as a daytime counterpart to the original Decadence, keeping the fruity-floral DNA but stripping it back for easier, everyday wear. The EDT format and the "Eau So" naming say it all: so decadent, but lighter. Buzantian, who also co-created the 2015 original, understood that sometimes you want the spirit of a signature without the weight of it. The purse-shaped bottle carries the Decadence name into a more casual register, a statement of accessible luxury rather than occasion-only opulence.
The tension here is between radiance and intimacy. White amber is the key, it's luminous without the depth of traditional amber, giving the scent a soft glow rather than a warm wallop. Cashmere wood does similar work in the base: soft texture without heavy wood. The lipgloss note in the drydown is the unusual touch, something glossy and faintly sweet that reinforces the feminine, polished character without pushing into gourmand territory. Buzantian threads the needle between playful and restrained, fruity-floral and sophisticated.
The evolution
The opening hits bright and juicy, Nashi pear and blackcurrant arrive together, the pear giving its characteristic watery sweetness while blackcurrant adds a tart, slightly sour edge. Ivy lingers underneath, keeping things green and botanical rather than purely fruity-sweet. Within the first ten minutes, the florals begin their takeover. Magnolia emerges as the dominant white bloom, creamy and lush, while jasmine and lily of the valley add structure. The fruits recede but don't disappear, they become a distant sweetness beneath the petals. By the drydown, the composition has settled into something warm and close: cashmere wood and white amber, the lipgloss note adding a faint shine. The sillage stays moderate throughout, this EDT whispers rather than projects, intimate rather than announced. The longevity holds for a workday on most skin types, the warmth lingering close hours after the florals have faded.
Cultural impact
Decadence Eau So Decadent occupies comfortable territory, fruity enough for spring and summer days, with enough warmth from the white amber and cashmere to extend into cooler evenings. It's become one of those quietly popular signatures people keep returning to. The community consistently praises its balance of fresh and sweet, with that cashmere wood and white amber drydown drawing the most affection. The sheer formulation works as a more accessible entry point to the Decadence concept, and for many wearers, this is exactly the right amount of presence.
