The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Dote Green arrived in 2023 as a unisex fragrance from MAIOS. Its story is less about a named muse than a clear scent idea: citrus brightness moving toward floral softness and earthy depth. Bergamot, ginger, lemon, and mandarin create the first impression with a sparkling, peel-like freshness and a clean ginger lift. Jasmine, magnolia, and violet bring a composed floral center, adding soft petals and a faint powdery quality without losing the green character. Amber, Indonesian patchouli, and sandalwood give that brightness somewhere to land, combining resinous warmth, earthy depth, and smooth wood. The result feels like a modern green perfume with a polished finish, built for the space between a crisp start and a calmer, more tactile drydown.
What makes Dote Green interesting is the handoff between opposites. Lemon and bergamot bring light, clean brightness, while ginger adds a measured pulse of heat. The heart doesn't turn overtly sweet; jasmine, magnolia, and violet introduce a powdery floral texture. Then Indonesian patchouli, sandalwood, and amber anchor the composition, keeping the airy opening from disappearing into something generic. It's a familiar citrus-floral frame with a little soil beneath it, which gives the fragrance its character: green, fresh, and not entirely weightless.
The evolution
The opening is the most immediate gesture. Bergamot, lemon, mandarin, and ginger land brightly, like citrus peel and a clean hit of spice, before the floral heart comes forward. Jasmine and magnolia make the middle feel softer and more polished, while violet adds a faint powdery hush. As the fragrance settles, Indonesian patchouli becomes the most distinctive material, bringing a darker green-earthy edge beneath sandalwood's smooth warmth. Amber keeps the final impression rounded rather than stark. Over time, the arc moves from lively citrus to gentle floral woods, with a closer, calmer scent left on skin.
Cultural impact
Dote Green's character is expressed through its layered composition. Bergamot, lemon, mandarin, and ginger establish a fresh opening, followed by jasmine, magnolia, and violet with soft floral and lightly powdery qualities. Indonesian patchouli introduces an earthy green edge, while sandalwood and amber give the drydown warmth and smoothness. The fragrance is presented as unisex, with a structure that moves easily from crisp citrus to floral woods and a composed green finish.
