The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Lomani Original carries the house signature. Aromatic, fresh, straightforward. Released under the Lomani name by Parfums Parour, the French perfume company of Paris, this is a straightforward masculine composition that doesn't try to be more than it needs to be. The brief reads clean and functional, a barbershop-leaning aromatic with nothing precious about it. Juniper and rosemary bring the bite, lavender brings that unmistakable barbershop cleanliness, violet leaf and geranium keep things from going too sharp or too soapy. It lands in territory between classic men's grooming and something genuinely wearable day after day. The formula trusts its materials. Nothing overworked, nothing apologetic, nothing trying to impress you with cleverness.
What makes the composition interesting is how the green notes stack. Juniper berry brings a gin-like crispness that most aromatics skip entirely, while rosemary adds an herbal bitterness that grounds the lavender's sweetness. Violet leaf is the under-discussed hero, that cool cucumber-green snap most people register as 'fresh' without identifying. Geranium sits in the middle, doing the bridging work between herbal and slightly floral. The base is restrained on purpose. Sandalwood and cedar for structure, amber for warmth, musk for skin. It reads as designed rather than assembled, which is rarer than it sounds at this price.
The evolution
The first 15 minutes are all top notes, loud and confident. Juniper cuts through lavender's softness, rosemary adds green heat. Bergamot brightens the edges without flattening them. By the 30-minute mark, the lavender has softened into something rounder, less barber pole and more clean laundry caught in wind. Violet leaf shows up here with its cool, watery snap, and geranium adds a dusty rose hint that keeps the whole thing from feeling sterile. Around the 2-hour mark, the base takes over. Cedar arrives first, dry and architectural, then sandalwood smooths the rough edges. The amber warms the drydown without tipping into sweetness. The drydown reveals how the composition was really built, because the cedar-sandalwood-amber base does most of the quiet work after the aromatic opening fades.
Cultural impact
Lomani Original is a barbershop-leaning aromatic that takes its cues from classic men's grooming without any of the pretension. The composition reads clean, lavender-forward, and unmistakably masculine, the kind of scent you'd catch in a traditional barbershop that hasn't updated its product list in decades. Juniper and rosemary provide the aromatic bite up top, violet leaf and geranium keep the lavender from collapsing into something too soapy or too sweet, and the base of cedar, sandalwood, and amber settles into a warm, woody drydown that stays close to skin.
