What makes Moment Perpétuel distinctive is the tension between classic and contemporary. Lavender has history, it recalls old colognes, old-world elegance. But blackcurrant and blackberry are modern, even rebellious in an aromatic context. They cut through the lavender's sweetness, giving the composition a tartness that keeps it from feeling nostalgic. The balsam fir in the base is another key decision: cooler and more resinous than cedar or sandalwood, it creates a drydown that feels like evergreen forests, not warm woods. Iris adds powder, white musk adds softness, and together they create a finish that lingers close to the skin rather than filling the room.

The evolution

The opening hits immediately with lavender's aromatic bite, clean, herbaceous, almost medicinal before bergamot softens it. The thyme underneath adds a slight green sharpness, a botanical edge that keeps the lavender from feeling sweet. Within the first hour, the blackcurrant and blackberry arrive. They don't overtake the lavender so much as sit beside it, adding a tart-fruity dimension that feels like a modern correction to a classic formula. By hour two, the heart is in full force: lavender still present, but now wrapped in fruit and the quiet warmth of hedione's transparent florals.
