The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Risala means message in Arabic. Autograph frames this as a personal declaration, identity made aromatic. Released in 2025 as part of the Risala collection, this scent arrives as Le Falconé's attempt to create something truly individual. The house built its reputation on bold, expressive compositions typical of Gulf perfumery, but Autograph takes a different angle: precision over power, signature over statement. Six top notes open the composition, apple, lemon, lime, blackcurrant, pink pepper, and thyme, a crowded entrance that signals ambition. The question isn't whether this fragrance means business. It's whether it can hold that many elements together without losing itself.
Six top notes is unusual. Most compositions pick two or three citrus elements at most; this stacks apple, lemon, lime, blackcurrant, pink pepper, and thyme into one opening burst. The result should feel chaotic, but the thyme acts as a stabilizer, its herbal quality cuts through the fruit brightness and keeps the citrus from becoming saccharine. Meanwhile, blackcurrant adds a tart, almost jammy depth that differentiates it from the standard fresh-citrus opening. In the heart, the contrast shifts: orange blossom and coconut create a creamy, powdery warmth that feels almost contradictory to the crisp entrance. That tension, bright to soft, sharp to smooth, is where Autograph earns its name.
The evolution
The citrus arrives in force, lemon and lime cutting sharp, blackcurrant adding tart depth, apple keeping things round. Pink pepper sparks on the skin, and thyme anchors the whole opening with an herbal backbone. This first chapter lasts roughly thirty minutes before the hand-off begins. Orange blossom takes over as the citrus recedes, carrying lily and coconut with it. The florals create a powdery warmth that replaces the initial brightness with something softer, almost intimate. Oakmoss and labdanum bridge the transition, their resinous quality adding structure as the composition moves toward its base. Three to four hours in, ambergris announces itself. Leather follows, dry and slightly animalic. Tonka bean and amber sweeten just enough to keep the base from becoming austere, while cedarwood, juniper berries, and moss ground everything in a woody, slightly green finish. The drydown is close to the skin, moderate sillage means this isn't a room-filler, but what it leaves behind is lasting.
Cultural impact
The fragrance draws comparisons to Oligarch and Isola Blu by Roja Parfums, high-end niche compositions retailing at multiples of Autograph's price. Community reviewers note it "bridges toward Oligarch territory," positioning it as an accessible alternative for those seeking luxury complexity without the luxury commitment. The Risala collection frames identity and personal expression as central themes, Autograph as the signature you choose rather than the one assigned to you.
