The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Fiori Bianchi arrived as Laura Biagiotti's first fragrance, an extension of the house's fashion philosophy into scent. The name means white flowers in Italian, and the composition was built around the idea of wearing florals close to the skin, natural and alive, rather than as something stiff or formal. The fragrance launched as an EDT, light enough for daily wear but structured enough to maintain presence throughout the day. The aim was to let the wearer carry a sense of sunlit ease, a bouquet that felt close to the skin rather than constructed.
What sets Fiori Bianchi apart is the sheer volume of floral material in the heart. The composition stacks jasmine, tuberose, rose, ylang-ylang, orchid, lily of the valley, and narcissus into a layered heart, each note contributing its own character to the overall bouquet. The orris root grounds the whole thing, adding an earthy, powdery dimension that keeps the florals from reading as overly sweet. The oakmoss in the base is what classifies this as a chypre rather than simply a floral fragrance.
The evolution
The opening is green and alive. Galbanum, hyacinth, bergamot bring a crisp, almost vegetable brightness that reads like morning. The fruity notes add a softness underneath, but the dominant impression is fresh-cut stems and cool water. The white flowers begin to assert themselves as the top notes settle. Jasmine arrives first, then the tuberose swells, and the composition moves fully into its heart phase. This middle section carries the layered florals, the orris root keeping everything grounded with that distinctive powdery-earthy quality. The drydown is quieter. Cedar and sandalwood warm the base, amber adds sweetness, musk keeps the fragrance close to the skin. The orris lingers faintly throughout the final stages, present as a subtle reminder of the floral abundance that came before.
Cultural impact
Fiori Bianchi occupies a specific space in the lineage of Italian heritage fragrances. The green-floral structure places it within a tradition of Italian perfumery that values balance and restraint. Its character suggests a quieter approach than some of its contemporaries, with a focus on wearable elegance rather than loud declaration. The fragrance appeals to those who appreciate a composed, daytime floral that doesn't announce itself across a room but instead rewards close attention.
