The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Lancetti marked its 50th anniversary in 2012 by releasing four Celebration flankers, each reflecting a different facet of the Florentine house's heritage. Celebration II was conceived as the most assertive statement in the collection, translating the house's classic Italian elegance into a fragrance designed to be noticed and remembered. The structure prioritizes immediate impact over subtlety, making it the line's power performer.
The note progression reflects a philosophy of layering contrasts: bright against dark, fresh against warm, smooth against rough. Bamboo leaf and mandarin orange provide immediate accessibility before the spiced leather heart demands attention. The vanilla-licorice drydown then offers reconciliation, transforming the fragrance from statement piece into something intimate and personal on the skin. This structure makes Celebration II versatile despite its power, as the base adapts to individual body chemistry.
The evolution
The journey begins with mandarin orange and bamboo leaf creating a fresh, slightly herbal entrance that feels both modern and grounded. As these recede, clove introduces warm spice before leather takes over the narrative entirely. The heart phase is unapologetically bold. Rose and ylang-ylang soften the leather slightly, preventing it from becoming purely masculine, while orange blossom bridges the transition. The drydown rewards patience, revealing vanilla warmth, musk softness, and the earthy depth of patchouli and myrrh before licorice whispers in the final hours.
Cultural impact
Celebration II quickly became a favorite among collectors who appreciate Lancetti’s limited‑edition releases. As part of the 50‑year Celebration line, it is often cited in forums as a signature chypre‑floral that bridges vintage Italian sophistication with modern gourmand twists. Its distinctive leather‑lico rice combination has sparked lively discussion, cementing its place as a cult favourite in niche circles.
