The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Green Oud is a collaboration between Katana Parfums and Ecuación Natural, produced in a run of just 18 bottles. The name is literal: this is oud rendered in its green register, pulled away from the syrupy sweetness most oud fragrances lean on. Where conventional oud perfumes build around warmth and resinous depth, Green Oud pivots toward something rawer, colder, more vegetal, closer to crushed leaves and camphor than to incense smoke or amber. The composition reads as one of the sharper pieces in the catalog, and the 18-bottle run signals intent. This was never meant for everyone, and that is the point.
What separates Green Oud from the oud mainstream is its raw material choice. The base features natural oud prachin, a grade known for its medicinal, almost chemical sharpness, a direction that refuses the sweetness most oud compositions settle into. Around it, the supporting notes push the composition further into green territory. Ho wood adds a cool camphor brightness, while peppermint and myrtle keep the heart pressed into herbal, almost bitter territory. Cedar and oak at the base don't soften the structure.
The evolution
On skin, the first 15 minutes belong to bergamot and jasmine, citric and slightly indolic, but they don't linger long. Peppermint arrives fast, cold and clean, cutting through whatever sweetness the citrus offered. By the 30-minute mark, the heart takes over: ho wood and pine build a resinous, camphoraceous backbone, while myrtle threads a green herbal hum through the middle. The oud prachin enters gradually, not as a wave but as a slow chemical burn, medicinal and faintly animalic without ever tipping into barnyard territory. After 2-3 hours, the composition settles into its final form: cedar and oak ground everything, the mint recedes, and what remains is a close-to-skin woody-green drydown that holds well into the evening on most wearers. The sillage stays restrained. You won't fill a room. The person standing next to you will know, and nobody else needs to.
Cultural impact
Green Oud sits in a very specific corner of the fragrance world: an ultra-limited natural, produced in a run of only 18 bottles, distributed exclusively through Ecuación Natural rather than through broader retail channels. That scarcity alone puts it outside any conversation about commercial positioning. This is a curio, a collector's piece, the kind of release that exists precisely because a small house chose to work with demanding raw materials on its own terms. The oud prachin choice, medicinal and green rather than sweet and resinous, anchors the composition in territory that feels intentional and uncompromising.
