The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Pastry emerged from Inconscio's 2025 laboratory of bold experiments, where perfumer Luigi Cacciatore set out to translate the scent of a freshly baked lemon pie into a wearable form. Drawing on the brand's Italian craft roots, he paired bright citrus zest with the comforting richness of vanilla and creamy custard. The goal was not to reproduce a bakery but to bottle a feeling: the warmth of afternoon light in a Tuscan pastry shop, the promise of something sweet waiting on the counter.
For Cacciatore, each note is chosen with intention. Lemon provides the bright citrus character that cuts through sweetness, avoiding the pitfall of becoming just another gourmand. Custard and vanilla bring the creamy, comforting depth that makes the fragrance feel substantial, not fleeting. Caramel and tonka add warmth without heaviness, grounding the composition and ensuring the drydown remains interesting. Biscuit provides the structure that gives Pastry its name, the baked element that separates it from a simple citrus-floral. The balance is deliberate: lemon keeps it from becoming overly sweet, while vanilla and tonka prevent the citrus from being too sharp.
The evolution
The opening is immediate: lemon zest arrives clean and bright, cutting through any pretense. Within the first hour, the lemon deepens and becomes more complex, the lemon taking on a pie-like quality as buttery biscuit and caramel begin to emerge, the citrus staying prominent while blending with these sweeter elements. The heart is where the fragrance finds its character: lemon pie and custard remain dominant while vanilla adds richness and tonka bean provides a soft warmth underneath, the lemon keeping a sharp edge against the sweetness. The drydown is where the tonka and vanilla take hold, the lemon fading to a whisper while the sweet warmth of caramel and vanilla settles into something Intimate, soft, and lingering.
Cultural impact
Since its 2025 debut, Pastry has become a quiet favorite among fans of citrus‑gourmand blends, often mentioned alongside Nero Gourmand and Safe Word as part of Inconscio’s playful edible series. Wearers cite its ability to evoke brunch memories and describe it as a scent that feels both nostalgic and contemporary, fitting well in urban creative circles that appreciate a hint of sweetness without overwhelming the senses.
