The beginning
Christi Meshell crafted Unveiled in 2013 as a meditation on the Pacific Northwest's saturated mornings. The Seattle-based perfumer imagined the instant when morning mist parts to reveal a hidden clearing. Rather than reaching for synthetic fixes, she built the scent around natural materials that capture green luminosity, botanical purity, and a sense of discovery. The fragrance emerged from her desire to bottle that transformative moment of vision in nature's landscape.
The note palette reflects House of Matriarch's commitment to botanical storytelling. Cucumber and galbanum anchor the green narrative, representing mist and canopy. Neroli, orange blossom, linden blossom, and mimosa form a floral chorus that feels more meadow than bouquet. Amber and oud provide necessary warmth for longevity, preventing the green-floral structure from fading into memory too quickly. Woody notes reinforce the Pacific Northwest forest aesthetic. Each material serves the central vision: revealing something hidden through scent.
The evolution
The green character is immediate and unmistakable. Galbanum and cucumber arrive at top velocity, delivering that dewy morning quality long before any conventional opening phase. Citrus leaves accent the green arrival with bright sharpness. As the heart matures over hours, neroli and orange blossom ramp up while linden blossom and mimosa provide delicate softness. Amber and oud enter mid-journey to warm the florals, and the drydown eventually settles into resinous oud and woody notes that drift quietly against the skin. Spicy notes thread throughout, adding complexity without dominating the composition.
