The beginning
Somnium arrived in 2025 as part of Hemcael's Armis Cor, or Armor Somnium, collection, a line built around scent as protective gear for the psyche. The composition places bright citrus and nutmeg against a quieter world of rose, lily of the valley, peach, and cypriol, then lets sandalwood, vanilla, vetiver, amber, and musk form the lasting ground. Its idea is simple and rather compelling: a fragrance that can move from sharp daylight focus to warm, polished evening presence without changing its character completely.
The unusual part is the handoff between families. Grapefruit and bergamot bring clean brightness, while nutmeg gives the opening a dry, gently peppered edge. The heart complicates that clarity with rose, lily of the valley, peach, and cypriol, creating a powdery floral center rather than a straightforward fruity one. Below it, sandalwood gives the composition weight, vetiver keeps the base grounded, and vanilla and amber soften the edges without erasing the dry spice.
