The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Amado Mio arrived as the second fragrance from Gianluca Bulega Couture. The name itself carries weight, 'My love' in Italian, direct and unguarded. Bulega, whose background sits at the intersection of Italian fashion and fragrance, brought sensibilities from cloth and form into the arena of scent. The composition opens with bright citrus that cuts clean through the air, then softens into a floral heart where rose and orange blossom interweave. This was personal expression translated into liquid, a fragrance that communicates feeling before words do.
The composition earns attention through its structure. Powdery rose and Bulgarian rose at the center, held up by tobacco and Indonesian patchouli in the base, that combination isn't common in feminine fragrance. Cubeb, too, appears in the drydown, adding a peppery aromatic layer that most formulations of this style wouldn't attempt. The result is a fragrance that feels coherent but not predictable. The citrus top doesn't just disappear, it threads through the florals, keeping the composition from becoming static. The tension between powdery softness and tobacco's dry weight is where the interest lives.
The evolution
The opening arrives bright and tart, Calabrian lemon and mandarin orange cutting through the air. Then the citrus recedes like it was never the point. Bulgarian rose and orange blossom move in, the rose taking on a powdery, almost melancholic quality. This is the heart of the fragrance, and it holds steady. The drydown is where the story shifts. Tobacco emerges quietly at first, then becomes the anchor. Indonesian patchouli adds earth. Vanilla softens everything. Musk keeps it close to skin. The drydown reveals a warm, grounded base that lingers, wrapping the wearer in quiet warmth.
Cultural impact
Amado Mio joins Gianluca Bulega's growing couture fragrance collection, continuing the designer's commitment to bold Italian artistry. The brand represents a distinct intersection between haute couture sensibility and accessible luxury. Its use of regional ingredients brings specificity to the composition, grounding the scent in particular origins.
