The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Fleuriste came from Lynn King's earliest memories of stepping into a neighborhood florist in New York as a child. The air inside was thick with the scent of fresh blooms laid out in water, and beneath that sweetness ran an unexpected green note: the crushed leaves of tomato vines stacked near the back door. That contrast, tender petals against the raw, almost vegetable snap of greenery, stayed with her for decades. In 2024 she brought perfumer Maud Chabanis a photograph of that memory and asked her to bottle it.
Chabanis approached the formulation by treating each green note as a structural element rather than a decorative one. The tomato leaf is not a fleeting gimmick but a full chord that persists into the heart, where it meets the florals on uneven terms. The mimosa was chosen specifically to bridge the gap between the raw green opening and the warmer base, acting as a bridge rather than a separate layer. Pairing suggestions follow this logic: a cool green tea or a neroli-forward cologne on a wrist creates a complementary conversation without muddying the composition.
The evolution
The fragrance opens with bergamot and pink pepper to establish a crisp, aromatic first impression, then introduces tomato leaf to inject that unmistakable green snap King remembered from the shop floor. As the scent evolves, freesia and hyacinth unfold as a dewy, translucent floral pair, while mimosa adds a soft, powdery richness and neroli keeps the composition grounded in a faintly bitter citrus character. The drydown brings in amber to warm the transition, then settles into the smoky depth of guaiac wood and the quiet sensuality of musk for a lingering, Intimate base.
Cultural impact
Since its 2024 debut, Fleuriste has become a quiet favorite among collectors who appreciate place‑driven narratives. Its green‑spicy opening sets it apart from more conventional floral‑citrus releases, earning mentions in niche forums as the scent of a city florist’s stall. It sits comfortably alongside Fleurit’s other 2024 offerings, reinforcing the house’s reputation for precise, memory‑evoking compositions.
