The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Imanem arrived in 2010 as part of Ésika's expanding men's line. The name carries weight in Spanish, evoking something magnetic, attractive, the kind of pull that draws attention without effort. That's the brief here: not a fragrance that shouts, but one that leans in. The composition reflects restraint: a tight trio of cardamom, sandalwood, and cashmere wood, designed to feel close to skin rather than broadcast across a room. It is a practical, wearable warmth, a fragrance for the man who wants something with presence but without theater. The cardamom sits at the top like a single bright accent, its slightly sweet, aromatic quality giving the composition a sense of lift before the woods take hold.
What's interesting here is the discipline. Imanem keeps the structure tight: a single bright spice up top, two woods carrying the entire middle and base. Cashmere wood is doing heavy lifting that sandalwood alone wouldn't achieve. It adds a soft, almost fabric-like texture that gives the drydown its signature tactile quality. The cardamom is the only bright element, and it has to earn its place by creating enough lift to keep the woods from collapsing into mud. The accord reads warm spicy, woody, aromatic, powdery, balsamic. That powdery register is the cashmere wood's fingerprint.
The evolution
The first ten minutes are all cardamom, bright and slightly sweet, with a sharp clarity that reads as spice before anything else. By the thirty-minute mark, the sandalwood has taken over, creamy and grounded, and the cardamom has receded into a supporting hum. The cashmere wood emerges around the two-hour mark, soft and powdery, giving the whole composition a different kind of weight. It's the phase that defines Imanem: less about scent, more about texture. By hour four, what's left is mostly the cashmere and a trace of warm sandalwood, still present on skin and in the surrounding air. The transition from opening to drydown is gradual, almost geological, each phase handing off to the next without a hard break. The cardamom's initial brightness gives way to the sandalwood's creaminess, and finally the cashmere wood settles in as the lasting impression.
Cultural impact
Imanem sits in the affordable-accessible tier of men's fragrance, the kind of bottle that fits into a practical daily rotation rather than a special-occasion shelf. It wears as a reliable, everyday choice, the sort of scent a man reaches for when he wants warmth and consistency. Within Ésika's men's lineup, it reads as a contemplative option, favoring softness and the interplay of two complementary woods over more aggressive constructions. The cardamom provides just enough lift to keep the composition from feeling static, while the cashmere wood adds a powdery, balsamic undertone that softens the sandalwood's creaminess.
