The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Saison 2 arrived in 2007 as the second chapter in Entre Filles' numbered collection. The house built its output around sequential releases, each marking a distinct step within an unfolding project. Saison 2 sits at the sun-warmed end of that sequence. The formula leans into what summer perfumery does best and rarely owns: unfiltered, almost reckless sweetness tempered by structure. Pineapple and mango hit first. Coconut and peach close the opening bracket. Freesia and jasmine do the floral lifting in the middle. Musk catches everything on the way down. Released as an eau de toilette in 30 ml, 50 ml, and 100 ml formats, it was never meant to be precious about itself.
What makes the composition work is the tug between two instincts. The top is aggressively tropical: pineapple, mango, peach, strawberry, coconut. Five fruits, no hedging. The sweetness is unapologetic, layered, and dense from the first spray. It pairs that fruit with white florals (freesia, jasmine, peony, white flowers) that add lift and brightness to the heart. Then musk, clean and warm, holds the whole thing upright through the drydown. The result reads as sweet without becoming cloying, tropical without drifting into gourmand territory.
The evolution
The first 15 minutes are a fruit riot. Pineapple leads, sharp and almost fizzy, with mango and strawberry crowding in close behind. Coconut smooths the corners. Peach sits underneath, quieter than expected, adding just enough flesh to keep it from reading as a cocktail. There is nothing restrained here. The opening projects with real force, the kind of sillage that fills a room before you sit down. Around the 45-minute mark, the fruit recedes. Freesia arrives with its green, almost peppery snap. Jasmine adds a creamy, slightly narcotic sweetness that softens the edges without dulling them. Peony and white florals fill in the airier spaces. This is the most wearable phase, where the composition finds its center. The fruits become a backdrop, a sweet hum underneath the cool green lift of the florals, and the whole thing breathes a little easier. By hour three, the musk takes over.
Cultural impact
Saison 2 sits firmly within the fruity-floral category that shaped a generation of women's fragrances in the mid-2000s. The composition pairs a generous fruit opening with a white-floral heart and a clean musk base, a structure that was widely deployed across commercial perfumery during that era. Community discussion on fragrance platforms treats the scent as a warm-weather favorite, polarizing for its sweetness and celebrated for its throw. Wearers note that the fragrance performs with confidence in the opening, softens into something more wearable through the heart, and settles into a soft musk close to the skin by the drydown.
