The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Ellis Brooklyn emerged from a practical ambition. Founder Bee Shapiro, a former New York Times beauty writer, built the brand on the premise that clean fragrance does not have to mean compromising on sophistication. Working with perfumer Pierre Negrin, Ellis Brooklyn set out to create modern American scents that translate specific moments and moods into wearable form. Apple Love continues that trajectory, channeling the energy of first attraction and youthful flirtation into a structured, approachable EDP.
The note selection reflects a deliberate philosophy: open with fruit for energy and approachability, deepen with floral sweetness for emotional warmth, and ground with warm woods and Musk for lasting presence. Each phase of Apple Love is designed to feel clean and contemporary, leveraging modern materials like Ambroxan and Musk alongside natural ingredients to achieve a specific effect at every stage. The result is a fragrance that rewards attention without demanding it, one that can be worn casually yet leaves a distinct impression.
The evolution
Apple Love opens with the electric immediacy of Red Apple, Peach Skin, and Mandarin Orange. These notes are chosen for maximum clarity and brightness, setting a tone that is confident without aggression. The heart introduces Lily of the Valley, Osmanthus, and Plum Blossom, threading delicate florals through Sugarcane sweetness. This is the section where the fragrance earns its name, a bloom of soft fruit and blossom that feels both natural and intentional. The drydown of Bourbon Vanilla, Musk, Sandalwood, and Ambroxan shifts the register toward warmth and intimacy, while Praline adds a final whisper of edible comfort that keeps the fragrance close to the skin for hours.
Cultural impact
Apple Love arrived and immediately distinguished itself in a landscape crowded with either aggressively sweet gourmands or minimalist clean scents. The fragrance positioned itself as something that smells expensive without trying too hard, appealing to those who appreciate sophistication without overt declaration. Wearers describe it as a scent that suggests confidence, the kind of fragrance that provides presence without overwhelming a space. It bridges the gap between casual and refined, making it versatile enough for daily wear while still feeling special enough for occasions when you want to leave a subtle but lasting impression.
