Pierre Negrin
Pierre Negrin arrived in perfumery through an unexpected door. Born in Grasse, France, where two generations of family merchants had surrounded him with baskets of jasmine and roses since childhood, he initially pursued photography, studying the work of Magnum legends like Robert Capa and Henri Cartier-Bresson. During a summer break from physics chemistry studies, a friend's invitation to work in a perfumer's atelier shifted everything. 'I suddenly realized that instead of expressing myself through light, I could express myself through scent.' He never looked back, learning his craft not in formal school but directly in fragrance laboratories. By 1990, he had already earned the International Prize for Fragrance Creation from the French Society of Perfumers. The early 2000s brought a move to Mexico, then the United States, and in 2008 he joined the prestigious Firmenich Fine Fragrance Center in New York. Today, split between his family home in Callian and life on the East Coast, Negrin continues his independent practice as PJN Scents Designer Consultant while maintaining his Firmenich connection.
