The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Better Days arrived in 2025 as part of Dossier's Originals collection, co-created with creator Allyiah and the brand's in-house Creative Lab. The brief was a day-to-night scent built around feel-good energy, the kind of fragrance you reach for on a morning when the light looks promising and you want to walk into it. The bottle leans into simplicity, with a composition that knows exactly what it wants to be: radiant citrus that doesn't try to grow up too fast. Clementine cracks the seal with that sweet-tart snap of fruit pulled fresh from the peel, layered against grapefruit's bitter rind to keep things honest. Pink pepper skips in alongside, dry and almost ticklish, the first hint that this isn't just a one-note shower of zest. The name does the emotional work.
What makes Better Days structurally interesting is how the spice and florals are used as scaffolding rather than spectacle. Pink pepper and ginger bring warmth without pushing the composition into fragrance-cologne territory. The heart layers neroli against rose and a wash of white florals, bright enough to keep the citrus honest but soft enough to read as skin rather than as scent. Coconut drifts through here too, adding a milky roundness that cushions the florals without smothering them. Heliotrope in the base is the quietest decision and the most deliberate.
The evolution
The first 20 minutes belong to the clementine. It opens with the snap of peeling citrus, a little sharp, a little green, undercut almost immediately by pink pepper's dry tickle. Grapefruit adds a faint bitter rind underneath, keeping things from collapsing into fruit juice. This is the phase that smells like stepping outside in good weather, the kind of citrus that lifts without shouting. By the 45-minute mark the citrus recedes. Cardamom and ginger move forward, and neroli arrives like a window thrown open. The white florals and rose are present but never loud, more suggestion than solo. Coconut softens the texture here, lending a creamy mouthfeel that rounds out the florals. The composition reads cleaner here, brighter, like sun through sheer curtains. After 2 hours the base takes over.
Cultural impact
Better Days sits at the center of Dossier's Originals collection, co-created with Allyiah through the brand's Creative Lab, and the result is a scent that reads as deliberately accessible: sweet, sunny, and built for everyday wear rather than special-occasion performance. The collaboration itself reflects how fragrance creation has opened up, letting creators outside the traditional perfume world shape a juice from concept to bottle. Allyiah brought a sensibility to the project that comes through in the final composition, a daylight-leaning citrus gourmand that wears like an easy mood rather than a statement.
