The note architecture is built around an unusual middle passage. Aquatic notes and lavender don't typically share space with cinnamon and iris, the former reads cool, even clinical; the latter reads warm, almost powdery. The result is a heart that feels split. Like the fragrance can't decide if it's heading toward skin-close intimacy or something that demands a room's attention. What saves it is the patchouli grounding the middle, keeping the aquatic notes from going sterile and the lavender from going heavy. It's the structural bridge that makes the whole thing feel intentional rather than confused.

The evolution

The opening is immediate: lemon zest, apple skin, a spike of black pepper that arrives sharp and retreats fast. Thirty seconds in, the tonka bean is already there, softening the edges before they fully form. The citrus top is a greeting. The heart takes over around the five-minute mark. This is where things get interesting. The aquatic notes arrive not as a marine crash but as a cool current underneath the lavender and sage. Cinnamon surfaces midway through, warm and almost sweet against the cool herbs. The iris adds a powdery friction that most people either lean into or wrinkle at. On most skin, this phase holds for two to three hours. The drydown is where the tonka bean makes its second appearance, now partnered with amber and vanilla. It's a softer landing than the opening promised. Some find this a disappointment, they wanted the pepper to stay. Others find it a relief.
