The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Black Love arrived in 2022 from Indonesian fragrance house Crusita, composed by perfumer Anindita Intan. The name sets the mood rather than pointing to a documented place or person: attraction, confidence, and a certain magnetic restraint. That idea plays out through a contrast of bright and dark materials. Orange Blossom and Pear lift the opening, Pink Pepper keeps it alert, while Coffee and Bitter Almond bring a darker current through the heart. Jasmine adds a clean floral lift before Cedar, Patchouli, and Vanilla turn the composition warm and grounded. It's a fragrance built around presence you choose, not a sweet scent that simply raises its voice.
The unusual part is the balance. Coffee can feel roasted and heavy, while Orange Blossom and Pear want to be airy and polished. Bitter Almond sharpens that meeting with a nutty, slightly tense edge, and Pink Pepper adds a rosy heat without turning the opening aggressively spicy. Jasmine keeps the floral thread clean. Then the base changes the register: Patchouli gives vanilla a darker floor, while Cedar keeps the result from becoming too dense. Together, the notes make sweetness feel less like dessert and more like a polished evening look.
The evolution
The opening starts on a clean, sparkling surface. Orange Blossom and Pear bring light and social energy, while Pink Pepper adds a flash of rosy heat that keeps the brightness from turning candied. As those notes recede, Coffee and Bitter Almond move forward. The fragrance becomes more intimate and magnetic, with Jasmine keeping the middle from losing its fresh edge. Over time, Vanilla settles into the warm base, but Patchouli stops it from becoming syrupy; Cedar adds a drier, woody edge underneath. The final impression is close, warm, and gently mysterious, with vanilla and patchouli likely to linger as the brighter notes fade.
Cultural impact
Black Love sits within Crusita's vibrant Southeast Asian fragrance world, where scent is presented as a mood and social signal rather than a quiet signature. Its confident name and bold coffee-almond profile suit the brand's expressive, extroverted register, especially for wearers who use fragrance to change the energy around them.
The House
CrusitaCrusita is an Indonesian fragrance house that has built a following around a colorful, personality-driven catalog of scents. Its range spans playful everyday colognes, bolder statement pieces, and collaborations with local personalities, including Melaney Ricardo. Releases like Scandal (2022), Rich Gold (2023), and Symphony Of The Sea (2024) suggest a brand that moves quickly, testing new ideas across collections rather than guarding a single signature. The house also runs a dedicated Sport Collection, developed in partnership with Fragrance House, which points to a broader strategy of themed drops designed for specific moods and moments.
