The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Scandal dropped in 2022. Among Sweet Peony, Busy Day, and Gentlemen, it leans loudest into femininity as spectacle. The nose behind it is Anindita Intan. Rather than chasing an understated minimalism, Scandal commits to excess: berries, blossom, sugar, and a musk that keeps things from floating away. The opening brings forward a juicy fruit impression, with berry sweetness supported by a soft floral lift. Apple Blossom adds a cleaner floral edge, while the fruit lends the composition a rounded, confection-like warmth. As the scent develops, the floral notes become more apparent, creating a pretty surface over the sweeter base. Orchid and Cherry Blossom contribute a smooth, polished floral character, and Heliotrope brings a powdery, almond-like haze.
What makes the composition interesting is how much floral it carries beneath all that obvious sweetness. Wild berries and apricot give the top its sugary hook, yes, but Apple Blossom does quieter work, threading a green-floral sharpness through the fruit so the opening reads bright instead of cloying. The heart builds on that balance. Orchid and Cherry Blossom stack into something lush and almost cosmetic, while Heliotrope's almond-vanilla facet does the heavy lifting between the florals and the gourmand base. Without it, the transition from blossoms to marshmallow would collapse. Heliotrope is the structural hinge, giving Scandal its powdery softness without flattening the fruits above it.
The evolution
The opening is the noisiest stretch: wild berries and apricot burst forward with that almost-candy sweetness, Apple Blossom threading a sharper floral edge through it before it fully registers. Within twenty minutes, the fruit steps back and the heart takes over. Orchid and Cherry Blossom build a soft, rounded florality that feels more like a cosmetic veil than a bouquet, and Heliotrope introduces that almond-powder haze underneath. Together, the florals move between fresh-looking blossom and a smoother, creamier surface, while the berry sweetness remains close beneath them. The drydown is where Scandal finds its final shape. Marshmallow and vanilla settle into the musk like a warm exhale, sweet but grounded, powdery rather than sticky. Musk carries the softer notes into a warmer, more intimate finish, while vanilla adds a creamy sweetness that rounds out the floral and fruity opening.
Cultural impact
Scandal sits in a sweet dessert-and-blossom register, built around fruit, floral notes, powder, and musk. Its profile is easy to approach through familiar scent families: berries and apricot bring the opening sweetness, Apple Blossom adds a brighter floral edge, and Orchid and Cherry Blossom make the heart feel soft and rounded. Heliotrope deepens the composition with an almond-powder haze, while Marshmallow and vanilla settle into the musk for a warm finish. The result is expressive and unmissable, well suited to nights out and occasions that call for a noticeable fragrance.
The House
CrusitaCrusita is an Indonesian fragrance house that has built a following around a colorful, personality-driven catalog of scents. Its range spans playful everyday colognes, bolder statement pieces, and collaborations with local personalities, including Melaney Ricardo. Releases like Scandal (2022), Rich Gold (2023), and Symphony Of The Sea (2024) suggest a brand that moves quickly, testing new ideas across collections rather than guarding a single signature. The house also runs a dedicated Sport Collection, developed in partnership with Fragrance House, which points to a broader strategy of themed drops designed for specific moods and moments.
The Creator
Anindita IntanHer style favors clarity over opulence. Compositions tend to unfold in clean, deliberate layers, with each note given space rather than buried beneath accords.
