Charenton Macerations named this fragrance Asphalt Rainbow before releasing it in 2015. The result is anything but a conventional rose. Roses grown in modern cities push through concrete, absorb exhaust, persist in unlikely places. The fragrance captures that stubbornness, pairing a rich rose absolute with the mineral and chemical notes of urban environments. It's a rose that refuses to behave like one, sweet and green and industrial all at once.
What makes Asphalt Rainbow unusual is the honesty of its materials. Spray paint and asphalt aren't poetic stand-ins for 'urban', they're direct references to the environment the fragrance inhabits. Galbanum's bitter green bite cuts through the rose absolute's sweetness before leather and saffron deepen the heart.
