The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Aqua Pure is Adam Bujairami's answer to a simple problem: the fresh, oceanic register of perfumery was underrepresented in his catalog. Launched in 2022, the composition reaches for the cooler end of the spectrum, with a clean, sea-spray character that cuts through heat without losing definition. Adam composed this one to show that a bright, breezy profile can still carry presence on skin. The opening is crisp and mineral, and as it warms, the fragrance reveals an herbal softness layered over amber-tonka warmth that grounds the whole thing. The result is unmistakably a Bujairami, and it's a welcome shift toward something lighter and more sunlit than the house's heavier offerings.
The note pyramid is a study in deliberate contrast. Six opening notes, apple, bergamot, grapefruit, lemon, marine, and pear, are arranged for maximum brightness, reading as a concentrated burst of clean, juicy, briny freshness all at once. But the heart pulls back into aromatic territory with geranium, lavender, and rosemary, and the base stacks amberwood, labdanum, patchouli, tonka bean, and woody notes for warmth and grip. The trick is the marine note working in tandem with that stacked base.
The evolution
The opening is all about brightness. Apple and pear give it a slightly sweet, almost edible quality, while the citrus stack, bergamot, grapefruit, lemon, reads sharp and clean. Marine notes add the sea-spray dimension without going synthetic or plasticky, lending a briny lift that makes the whole thing feel like walking along a coastline in warm weather. Soon after, the herbal heart, rosemary up front, lavender and geranium underneath, starts to take over. This is where the fragrance stops smelling like a shower gel and starts feeling like an actual place, with green, aromatic facets that ground the initial brightness. As the composition settles, the transition to base begins. Patchouli and woody notes come through first, then the amberwood and labdanum warm everything up with a resinous, slightly honeyed depth.
Cultural impact
Aqua Pure occupies an interesting position within the Bujairami catalog. For wearers familiar with the house's heavier, resinous offerings, this one opens up a more versatile, daytime-friendly option without abandoning the structural depth that defines the brand. It's a fragrance that works as a warm-weather pivot, light enough for daytime or casual settings, yet grounded enough to carry through longer wear. The composition shares territory with other aquatic-woody fragrances, and Parfumo lists Acqua di Giò Absolu as a similar fragrance for those cross-referencing the category.
