The beginning
Bottega Veneta calls it Ricordami, remember me, and the name does most of the work. The house launched this fragrance in 2026 as part of its Alta collection. The official description leans into nostalgia: summer-sweet, milky vanilla and chocolate stracciatella notes layered over grounding oakwood. It is the kind of scent that asks you to recall a specific afternoon, a gelato stand, a conversation that lasted longer than it should have. The vanilla reads warm and lactonic, carrying the soft sweetness of melted ice cream rather than anything sugary or sharp. The chocolate aspect of the stracciatella note adds a faint cocoa bitterness, just enough to keep the sweetness from tipping into confection.
What makes the composition worth slowing down for is the tension between gourmand and base. Stracciatella ice cream is an unusual note to anchor a luxury fragrance. It reads like a novelty until you see what sits underneath it: oak bark, frankincense, and modern musks (Helvetolide®, Muscenone®) that give the sweetness a dry, almost resinous floor. The rum CO2 opening and Paradisone in the top add warmth without alcohol burn. The interplay between the creamy vanilla-chocolate layer and the more austere base materials is where the fragrance earns its complexity.
The evolution
The first ten minutes are boozy and a little loud. Rum CO2 hits like a glass lifted too close to the nose, dark, syrupy, edged with the synthetic brightness of Paradisone that makes it feel almost edible. Ambroxan and Dreamwood settle in next, and the patchouli underneath stops the sweetness from floating away. By the two-hour mark the stracciatella note surfaces. Not aggressively sweet. More like the ghost of vanilla ice cream left in a warm bowl, milky and soft, wrapped around oak bark that grounds the whole composition. The Helvetolide® and Muscenone® keep the skin close, creating a clean muskiness that stops the dessert from cloying. The frankincense arrives late, adding a faint resinous flicker that weaves through the remaining sweetness like incense drifting past an open window. Six to eight hours in, what remains is vanilla, oak, and a skin-like warmth.
