Little Lace Dress

The note structure is what makes this interesting. Little Lace Dress uses patchouli as the final word, earthy, slightly dark, the counterweight that keeps the jasmine and iris from floating away entirely. Black iris is the pivot point: powdery enough to bridge the florals and the base, distinctive enough to make this feel less generic than its accords might suggest. The jasmine brings a soft, indolic warmth while the iris adds a powdery, slightly root-like complexity that deepens the florals.

The evolution

Blackcurrant arrives first. Tart, bright, almost greedy. The Sicilian mandarin adds a burst of citrus that lasts about fifteen minutes before the florals take over. Jasmine and black iris emerge together, not separately, but woven. The jasmine is warm, the iris is powdery, and they create something creamy and soft in the heart phase. This lasts the longest, maybe two hours, before the patchouli announces itself. Not loud. Close. Earthy and grounded, like soil after rain. The drydown stays near the skin, intimate, warm, barely there the next morning.
