The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
The Far Away collection has quietly built a reputation for delivering more than the price tag suggests. Far Away Splendoria, launched in 2022, takes that premise and pushes it further. Avon brought in Nelly Hachem-Ruiz alongside Nicolas Beaulieu and Julien Rasquinet to create something that honors the Far Away DNA while taking a different direction. The brief: take the opulence of Middle Eastern perfumery, the liquid gold of oud, and make it feel radiant rather than heavy. Gardenia and plum add brightness. Bourbon vanilla keeps it warm. The result is a flanker that stands as its own distinct creation within the collection, blending warmth and luminosity into something that feels both opulent and approachable.
The heart of this composition lives in the tension between luminous and deep. Plum brings sweetness that reads as rich rather than simple. Gardenia adds that creamy white floral lift that can make an oud composition feel alive rather than heavy. White oud itself is a clever choice here, it brings the depth and the word "oud" without the Barnyard assertiveness that alienates newcomers. Bourbon vanilla in the base isn't doing the heavy lifting; it's doing the warmth. These four materials, working together, create something that smells expensive without trying too hard. That's the real trick.
The evolution
The opening arrives with plum at its deepest, almost brandy-soaked, like stone fruit left too long in the jar. Then gardenia appears, bright and creamy, cutting through the darkness with something that reads as light. White oud follows, not heavy or smoky but clean and woody, giving the composition structure. The handoff between gardenia and oud is where this fragrance earns its keep, the florals don't disappear, they fade into the woods. Bourbon vanilla arrives last, warm and close, wrapping everything in an embrace that stays intimate rather than projecting. On the right skin, this one lasts well into the next day as a skin scent.
Cultural impact
Far Away Splendoria entered the fragrance conversation in 2022 with a composition that centers on black plum and gardenia, building over a foundation of oud. The pairing of juicy fruit notes with warm oriental elements creates an entry point into deeper fragrance territory that feels both inviting and sophisticated. The interplay between plum's sweetness and oud's resinous depth gives the scent a character that bridges fruity and oriental families without committing fully to either. Gardenia adds a creamy, indolic floral layer that softens the plum's edges while the oud provides the structural backbone.
