Oud Saphir

The suede note acts as a bridge between the citrus opening and the deep oud base, translating brightness into warmth without losing continuity. Instead of relying on smoke, incense, or resin to anchor the base, Oud Saphir uses birchwood, which adds a dry, slightly mineral edge that keeps the vanilla from becoming too sweet. The result is a composition that shares qualities with leather fragrances while remaining softer and more inviting. Powdery violet leaf reinforces this approach: it's floral, but it has presence rather than delicacy. The note adds texture and depth without becoming fragile.

The evolution

The bergamot arrives first, crisp, almost sharp, the only moment of brightness in the entire arc. Within minutes, it recedes behind something softer: the suede, already warming, already powdery. The pink pepper adds a faint spice, but it's subdued, more texture than heat. By the second hour, the jasmine emerges, sweet and white, threading through the suede like a ribbon. Then the oud arrives, not with fanfare but with persistence. It's dark without being heavy, joined by birchwood and bourbon vanilla in a drydown that settles close to the skin and stays. The vanilla and oud continue to develop, faint and warm, resolved on fabric.
